Coral is Coming!

I have never been a huge fan of pink. The bright girly color was just never for me. However, recently I have found myself drooling over the closely related color, coral. I am unsure if my love for the color is due to me wishing spring was here and that the cloudy days of winter were over, but either way, coral will be filling my closet this spring. My obsession with coral is beginning with these Dolce Vita Strappy Platform Wedges from Urban Outfitters.

Springtime

::Forever 21 Floral Dress::Gap Cardigan::Micheal Kors Watch::Frye Boots::

The small glimpse of springtime weather last week, got me wanting spring more then ever. This winter has been long, cold, and depressing, and the spring’s warm breeze and fresh blossoming flowers would be much appreciated to brighten my spirits. So, last week, I took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather to put on my new dress, which i thought would be sitting in my closet for a few more weeks taunting me.

Ming Makes Cupcakes

Cupcakes are the perfect treat for anything. Everyone loves the petite cakes that are just for you. The moist cake with fluffy frosting on top melts in your mouth. No matter what flavors no one can deny a delicious bite of a cupcake. A plain yellow cake cupcake with butter cream frosting on top use to satisfy my sweet tooth, however now that I have found Ming Makes Cupcakes an ordinary cupcake will just not do. The website gives a twist from regular to gourmet, and gives you the recipe to allow you to enjoy the mouth-watering goodness at home. The only problem: which cupcake to make first?

Blake Lively

Blake Lively is not only one of television’s biggest stars, (staring in one of my favorite shows Gossip Girl), but is beginning to take the fashion world by storm. Her style has become more refined and grown up over the years, and of course having Penn Badgley as a permanent accessory can never go out of style. Maybe the styles of her character, Serena van der Woodsen, has inspired Lively’s own wardrobe; she has impeccable style on and off set. Lively was not only named 2010’s Best Dressed by Vouge, she is soon to be the official face of Coco Chanel’s Mademoiselle handbag line. Blake is becoming on of my favorite celebrity fashion icons.

Where is the Love?

February 14th, Valentine’s Day, has always seemed like a forced holiday for me; shouldn’t you show love for the ones you care about on a daily basis? However, as much as I believe the holiday is contrived, I will never turn down an excuse spread the love. Although, I do not have a special valentine this year, here are some little things that I am truly loving today!

1. My Michael Kors Watch, given to me by two friends for my high school graduation (I swear this watch very rarely leaves my wrist).
2. The Essie ‘peach daiquiri’ nail polish which is currently on my fingertips.
3. My recently purchased and still yet to be worn Belted Floral Dress from F21.
4. My newly re-heeled Frye Boots, that I will never fall out of love with!

Not only am I loving the little material things that brighten my day, I am loving all the company that surrounds me. My Mom, Dad, Sister, and my cousin Kirsten, just to name a few.
Hope everyone’s Valentine’s Day brings them something special!

The 10 Commandments

As far as religion goes, being baptized was as far as I got, so my decision to go to a Catholic college, maybe wasn’t the best idea. But, as I sat in my dorm room reading the bible’s ten commandments for my “seeking wisdom class”, I realized fashion needs a list of commandments to help the world be better dressed.

I. Thou shall wear clothes that fit and flatter your own body.
One the the biggest fashion faux pas is wearing ill-fitting clothes that make you look frumpy or skin-tight clothes that leave nothing for the imagination (aka. slutty).

II. Thou shalt EVER wear leggings as pants.
Leggings are not pants. enough said, just don’t do it.

III. Thou shall only wear pajamas while sleeping.
Goofy printed pajama pants, while yes are extremely comfortable, are made to sleep in, and sleep in only! You look like an idiot walking around anywhere in public in them.

IV. Thou shalt steal from your neighbor.
Of course everyone loves searching your best friends closet to borrow something fabulous for your big night out. However, as borrowing is acceptable, stealing is not. Your friend realizes her favorite top is missing, and knows you aren’t “forgetting” to give it back to her. Wear it, wash it and bring it back!

V. Thou shall never be boring.
Yes, jeans and a tee can be comfy and cute, but why not throw on some over sized earrings or a bright scarf to keep the attention on you and a little spice to your life. The better you dress, the better you feel about yourself, and the more confidence you have.

VI. Thou shall conceal panty lines, bra straps and any other undergarment.
Please stay classy, and keep the lingerie for the bedroom. No one wants to know what type of underwear you are wearing or what color your bra is.

VII. Thou shall have thy own style.
Don’t just be a copy cat, take trends and styles you love and make them your own by adding a twist. People will envy your creativeness.

VIII. Thou shall not be afraid of color and prints.
Adding bright colors and fun prints to your wardrobe is always great way to stay exciting. Just be careful to not mix too many colors and prints into one outfit.

IX. Thou shall dress for the occasion.
While wearing yoga pants to the supermarket or to run a few quick errands. Everyone must realize when there is a need to dress up. Work, dates and formal occasions should get some extra thought while getting dressed for, and when unsure of the appropriate attire, err on the side of over dressing, that way even if you are overdressed, you will turn heads and be the best dressed there.

X. Thou shall dress for thy self.
Getting dressed in the morning should be about making yourself feel good and confident and inspire your day to be great. The only person you should be trying to look good for is yourself, if you feel good about yourself, people will spot your style and confidence from miles away. Confidence is the #1 accessorize that everyone should wear all the time.

Jar of Hearts

This vh1 “you ought to know” artist, Christina Perri, is becoming one of my most played on my itunes. I can’t get enough of this song, I love the her voice, the lyrics, the message, and the feeling of empowerment I get when I sing along.
