Blue skies and orange sunrise

I have been dreaming of spring and summer ever since it ended last year. I hate the cold and dreary days of winter and seem to fall into a funk of black, grey and navy attire. But this must come to an end, to cheer up my dark looks a touch of sky blue or sunrise orange will be wrapped around my wrist or hanging from my ears!

Snowcone

I have recently been finding beauty and inspiration in very random places and obscure things. While out in the snow, the fluffy white flakes consumed everything like white out. Which is why a bright orange street cone caught my eye. With others questioning my attention on the cone, I could not help but see its bright orange color contrasting against the blue of the ocean and sky and the graffiti like aspect to the random placement.

Never Ending Winter Wonderland

Every morning, as I uncover myself from my cozy mound of blankets, I slip on my slippers and look out the window. For me, the weather affects my mood greatly, the sun and warm weather is what I am also hoping for. However, as all New Englanders know, the weather here can be quite tricky at times. So, as I arise from my bed each morning, hoping to see the sun and blue skies, lately I have had the pleasure to see nothing but gray clouds, snow and ice. The snow melting and the skies clearing however does not look like it is in my near future, for whenever I turn on the weather I hear news of a snow storm. All this cold weather, and thinking this winter wonderland will never end, I decided I needed to add a few more winter items into my closet.

Mushroom Manicotti

I decided that Italian food was just right for my Friday night with my family and cheese filled manicotti sounded like no one could argue over its delicious-ness. To add something new into the mix however I threw in some mushrooms to add an element of surprise. Although I do not have the exact recipe I used (because I basically made it up while I went along, throwing in whatever sounded good) you can find a recipe here and several other places online.

Deerfield Beach

The new year for me meant a new beginning, and what better way to start out fresh then to take a spontaneous trip to Florida with my cousin. The trip was planned only a day before we left and only lasted a few days, however the relaxing sun and warm beach breeze was just what I needed. Hopefully my tan won’t fade too quickly while i jump back into the cold weather and reality.

1.1.11

2010 didn’t end to great for me, the hype of a fun new years eve never lives up to its expectations. However, the past year has brought many changes to my life. In 2010 I was voted prom queen at my senior prom, graduated from high school (finally), started college, traveled to London, started this blog, spent the holidays with my family and did several other fun and memorable activities. Although 2010 treated me kindly, I am determined to make 2011 even better. Happy New Years Everyone!
