Pumpkin Bumpkin

Last weekend I decided to take a quick brake from college life and head home to my comfy bed, home-cooked meals, free laundry, and some family time. I was glad to have the few days at home to relax, although it made me realize how much I miss the comforts of home. While at home my Mom took full advantage and had a full day of autumn activities planned, starting with baking an apple pie and ending with carving pumpkins (which included baking the seeds!) Carving pumpkins always gets my in the Fall spirit and ready for Halloween, now all that’s left is to find a perfect costume.

What gets you in the autumn spirit?

One for One.

“TOMS Shoes was founded on a simple premise: With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One. Using the purchasing power of individuals to benefit the greater good is what we’re all about. The TOMS mission transforms our customers into benefactors, which allows us to grow a truly sustainable business rather than depending on fundraising for support.”

TOMS shoes are not only cute and comfy but they are a great cause. Just by buying something amazing for yourself results in a child in need receiving a new pair of shoes, how could you not buy a pair? My first pair, purchased today, are gray, but you can get the footwear in several different colors and styles. See what style would have you dying to buy a pair and give a pair at One for One.

All wrapped up, with a bow on top

Bows are a fun, child-like statement that can turn any serious outfit into a playful one. Try tying a ribbon in your hair, or around your high waisted skirt to add a whimsical feel to your look. And who knows, the cheerful bows you start incorporating into your style might add some more adventures into your life.

Sparkle and Shine, Baby

The recent dull and dreary autumn days have me wanting to stay in bed all day, snuggling with my Elle Magazine, a steaming cup of tea, and a movie marathon. However, this is quite unrealistic, especially this week with my hectic schedule of classes and performances.  To motivate myself from my warm cozy bed, I have incorporated some sparkle and shine into my wardrobe, to brighten up the dark fall mornings. Although the sequins and sparkles are usually reserved for a night out, I found wearing them during the long day can spark some fun.

This Sparkle and Noise Sequin Cardigan is great over a plain dress, or jeans and a tee.

Another shimmering piece from the Sparkle and Noise brand is this sequin skirt. With a plain cardigan or shirt this night-time skirt can make a day-time appearance.

And if you are still feeling uninspired, throw on a flowy over-sized sequined top with jeans and boots.

How will you add some sparkle and shine into your wardrobe?
